Liberty | |
|
LIBERTY The quality or state of being free. |
"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." Gal 5:1 |
"But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed." James 1:25 |
|
| Liberty is freedom
to chose not freedom from accountability. Liberty removes consequences from the choosing not from the choice. Liberty demands responsibility. Even in LIBERTY there are boundaries. * Liberty’s boundaries are morality based. * Liberty requires reasonable law. * Reasonable law requires moral legislation * Without morality there is no liberty. God’s Word is the perfect "law of liberty" and sets the boundaries for the Believer. The Christian’s liberty, though enjoyed, is not exempt from sacrifice for the purpose of another’s benefit. (Philippians 2:2-8) Sacrifice is the currency of liberty. |
Teaching the Responsibilities of Liberty 1. Allow your children to make age appropriate choices. 2.. Define their appropriate boundaries and responsibilities and give them freedom therein. 3. Don’t shield your child from the consequences of poor choices. (wisdom gained) 4. A child’s boundary does not limit a parent’s discretion in a matter. (That’s parental liberty) 5. Don’t make your parental responsibility a child’s choice or you will give away parental authority. 6.Acknowledge a child’s sacrifice of liberties, but don’t reward it immediately otherwise it will skew the purpose. 7.Learn and teach to say “Thank You”.
