Intimacy

INTIMACY

Familiarity or association; nearness in friendship.

“Oh, the fullness, pleasure, sheer excitement of knowing God on earth!”

Jim Elliot

"And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might."

Deut. 6:5-6

And Adam knew Eve his wife...

Knowledge

Knowledge doesn’t guarantee intimacy,

but...

You can’t be intimate without knowledge.

The better we know someone, the greater the potential for intimate friendship,

but...

Familiarity will breed contempt if relationships are not cultivated properly.

Both sides must have a desire for deeper friendship if intimacy is to develop.

"But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin."

1 John 1:7

Intimacy on a spiritual level with God stems from knowing  & loving His Word.

"And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments." (1 John 2:3)

Real love is manifested by word and deed.

"But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him." (1 John 2:5)

The more we know God, the more God is manifested in us.

“If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.” (I John 2:29)

“Sin severs the saint from the Son!”
