Fear

FEAR

 

A distressing emotion aroused by impending

danger, evil, or pain.

Virtue motivated by fear, loses half its beauty.

“Nothing more effectually kills the fear of man than an abundance of the fear of God.”

There is no respect or reverence without the shadow of fear.

 

That fear would be fear of loss or gain.

A lack of fear produces:

* lawlessness

* disobedience

* self-indulgence

* atheism

* confusion

 

Fear of the Lord produces:

* wisdom

* knowledge

* obedience

* long life

* confidence

* order

 

"The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe."

Prov. 29:25

 

Fear of man produces:

 

* deadened conscience

* distracted purpose

* hindered holiness

* paralyzed witness

* powerless faith

 

"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love."
